Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), also known as Thin Film Deposition, is a vacuum coating process that vaporizes solid metal into a plasma of atoms or molecules. This vapor can be deposited as a high-performance coating on a wide variety of substrates.

PVD offers environmentally friendly, brilliant, and durable decorative finishes for household appliances, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, automotive trim, marine fittings, casinos, outdoor and sporting equipment, medical instruments, indoor/outdoor lighting, architectural elements, and more.

By using high-purity gases during the process, we achieve specific colors that combine the benefits of a decorative finish with excellent wear and corrosion resistance. This thin film enhances the visual and functional performance of your products. PVD coating thickness ranges from 0.25 microns to 5 microns.

The PVD process is highly competitive with alternative technologies such as E-coating, powder coating, and electroplating. Materials that are electroplated with nickel/chrome or stainless steel are most suitable for PVD coatings. The most common materials for chrome plating include brass, zinc, steel, aluminum, and ABS plastic. PVD will not dull or enhance the appearance of your products. Polished or mirror surfaces are used to produce PVD polished finishes, while brushed or satin surfaces are used to produce brushed or satin PVD finishes.

Additionally, unlike electroplated finishes, PVD coatings will not level out or fill in surface imperfections, so these defects will still be visible after the coating process. For example, PVD will not fill pinholes or dents, nor will it cover scratches on chrome plating.
